Bantu Bird

Riaan Smit 1988 (Windhoek)

Here I go walking blindly
Into the deep unknown
Maybe luck will find me
Fill my cup and feed my soul

Put my fears beside me
in a sip of gold
my lonesome past behind me
fill my cup and feed my soul

My oh my haven’t you heard?
About the eater man skeeter
And the bantu bird
She flew the coop and she’s hitting the town
Looking for something that could never be found
A hacky sack, and a bongo drum
In a black backpack that’s second to none

Feed the fire with some loving words of passion
Hold on to the only truth you know
Captivated by a wild eyed illusion
Trapped by the freedom that you own

My oh my haven’t you heard?
About the eater man skeeter
And the bantu bird
She flew the coop and she’s hitting the town
Looking for something that could never be found
A hacky sack, and a bongo drum
In a black backpack that’s second to none
