2 minutes

Mia Sims 2003 (Winchester)

Two minutes, that’s all it is
I’ll start the timer, and as the second ticked
I feel my fears rising
I feel the tears trying
To fall down my cheeks
Surely it can’t be true
I’m not ready for motherhood

Two minutes, that’s all it is,
But it’s not it’s a lifetime of commitment
It’s sleepless nights
It’s holding you tight
In my arms hoping I’ll stop the cries
Mine and yours
A new life for me is about to be born

Two minutes, that’s all it is
the idea of this life, I’m getting used to it
The plans in my head
The loves in my heart
I’m ready for you
Whoever you are
Whatever you do
Whoever you love
I think I’m ready to be your mum

2 minutes, that’s all it was
One minute you were there, the next you were gone
I had to let go of the life I had grown to love
I’ll never know if you were there or not
And even if you were, you weren’t here for long
And I can’t lie, life without you has left me freer
But that doesn’t make losing you any easier

2 minutes, that’s all it felt like
But the level of loss I feel
I’ll carry that for life

Rest in peace my little love
Love From , your two minute mum xx

Mia Sims

I’m 19 in my final year of college and I was in a very toxic relationship. That relationship has ended and I have started using poetry to heal the damage he left behind. Poetry has become my version of journaling, a way to express my feelings from a time of my life that was filled with a lot of pain, hurt, anger, stress and struggle. But I’ve learnt that there is beauty in struggle, because it brings growth. more…
