The Pressed Flower

I opened a book to read words that would shake off my sadness,
What I found instead was a flower press between the pages,
It’s petals intact and giving colour a page of text,
I went searching for words and what I found was a moment,
A moment that I had intended on keeping,
I knew I would need it,
I just didn’t know when.

About this poem

I had been feeling a little low and went for the book The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse to read something positive. I opened it up randomly and within the page was a flower pressed from a long time ago. The poem just kind of came straight out from that point.
