What is Common Sense?
“What’s going on in this world?” Must I ask? Are we oblivious to such simple tasks? Something is missing deep from within, Such kindness is cut from unwanted sin. The crimes that occur are misunderstood, Not by the evil; but by the good. The question is unanswered, its answer unspoken; How many hearts are there left to be broken? The world is chalk full of bars and cars and wars, The attacks on us fill us with horror. Is it a nightmare? Or is it a dream? Or is it just something that shall make us scream? Sense is not as common as it should be, Too many fights and losses we see. WWI/WWII, our attacks, 9/11, What else is this place but a horrific heaven? The prices skyrocket; people live in the streets, Unbearable winters, and sweltering heat. Employment keeps dropping, faster by second, And what with the uneducated is reckoned? The Earth is at stake, its air is not cleaner, Than bullies whose mouths are twice as meaner. Profanity flies in the midst of the air, The gas station prices and train fares aren’t fair. I cry, I fight, I feel, I’m there, To fill up this emptiness everywhere. If kindness is less than 100%, Then say what is true, to say what is meant. What more can I say or do or take, When all I keep asking is give me a break?! Unless there’s an answer, much less than two cents, Then tell me, tell me, what is common sense?
