STRANGERS
Speaking: that’s what frightens me most
Not publicly, but with those I don’t know
I can smile, and wave
And still not know what to say
I'm not funny so I have no jokes
And I’m not pretty like others I know
I try and try to move my lips
But something always stops me from within
A voice calling me terrible and cruel
So I stay quiet and look like a fool
No one seems to understand my pain
And I’m left to face another friendless day
I sit alone for hours at a time
Even days go by before I speak my mind
I hide my pain with a smile on my lips
And wonder if tomorrow will be any different
