Sunset Moonrise
as the sun sets in the distant west
a spider creates its web
one strand at a time
stars begin to appear between the silken threads
that shine against the pale fiery glow of the evening sky
Venus rules the dusky twilight
one can find none brighter
the spider circles a star
as night grows nearer
Sky is a blaze in a fire red
scattered clouds are pink apple blossoms reflected in a pond
it radiates between two hills
center point a sun
clouds turn to shadows of forgotten souls
night has now begun
Have you sat alone at night
watched the street lights turn on
then sat so long
you watched them turn off?
What would it be like if all the street lights turned off?
the whole world flipped upside down
the night sky as bright as the ground
time moving at the speed of sound
My shadow moves about the night
when the street lights shine him brightly
in front of me
or behind
but in the woods
with only leaves and trees
the stars so far
far away
they are too dim for him
though when the full moon glows
there my shadow shows
So
Wane away moon
Don’t go so soon
Wane away moon
