Blue And Green
Blue And Green
As if I was born again, I came to know love
In the blue skies and the green grass
I saw two miracles of the universe
And felt their soft delicate forms
One in the cool gentle breeze
The other across the blades
Beneath my feet.
Air is the thankless space above my head
Where the clouds resemble thoughts
Taking their time to cross
The plants all around
Nature’s efficient machines
Giving me something to breathe
Filling my lungs with life.
Who am I to walk so cavalier, for granted
How can I ignore the cosmic canopy
This sophisticated biosphere
And all it’s occupants
Everywhere above and below?
I am just one steward
Safeguarding a world.
Imagination and man still fall so short
Trying to duplicate these things
It is we who are given so much
And must do much more
Let us be house proud of Earth
Protect and serve our planet
The future depends on us.
