Storm of purpose

Sailing in a sea full
of constant waving days,
 A ship floating aimlessly
 struggles to gain its way.

 Blind to the unseen
and deaf to storms of wrath,
 No guidance swaying farther still,
until a light shines the path.

But shine is the only thing
this lighthouse was built to do,
To show the way, all but pray-
-the rest is up to you.

Will you turn out to sea
when rough waters tide comes in,
Or hold fast and wait out the storm
 until visuals come back again.

If it comes to that night
when my light isn't all that bright,
My only hope is you're not that far
to take care of me, your shining star.

I need you ship, as you do me,
and remember not to blame the sea.
If it weren't for dark rain to fall,
there'd be no reason for a light at all.
