WE ARE ALL MAD HERE

WE ARE ALL MAD HERE
The sky is the air,
The trees are always green,
The birds sing through their beaks,
Flowers bloom fair,
Time flows through mean?
What a world where fun is weak

A time too jolly is now,
A white rabbit hopping quickly,
As if late for tea,
He needs to be here somehow,
While he eyed his pocket-watch keenly
In his coat, that may confuse thee

So, down you shall go,
Down the rabbit-hole,
It’d have been more fun with no end,
Another world you’ll know,
Your conscience will form a hole,
The realm is what depends,

It is normal here,
But you had to Wonder if
There is nothing to explain,
The sky is the sea, mere,
The trees with colors too brief,
There’s more that you had to complain

Birds hind-legged, how rare,
Roses painted red,
A blue caterpillar vapes with heed,
A hatter, a mouse, and a hare,
Two chubby brothers, you’ll lose your head,
For there’s no answer you need

You’ll not only lose your head,
You’ll also lose your head,
For there is a hefty queen,
With an army of cards of lead,
All this mayhem depends
On a life that is rolled to mean,

There is one more to see,
And how handsome and crafty is he,
Upon this wilder world,
A sly, oblivious cat you’ll see
Or not, your mind would compare me,
My smile is always in your world

So, order is a crime,
It’s a madhouse here,
Your mind is no longer near,
Hear can walls, fly can time,
But it is normal, you hear?
We are all mad here.

About this poem

The poem is based off from a classic fairytale, 'Alice in Wonderland'. The speaker is the Cheshire Cat and the targeted audience is those who fell down the rabbit hole and ended up in a world filled with madness and no rules. The all-knowing cat explains to the audience how every time you spent in Wonderland degrades your order-driven mind and makes you part of the mad world too.
