Motherhood or suffering

I saw my mother over and over
Awake every night and I wondered
Perhaps she had super powers no one knew of
But facade facade
Realities , realities
Social norms and requirements are a thing

A girl on a podium
Recalling the accolades due to her mum for such
efforts put into caring
Even she recognizing the pain
Says the accolades are deserving

But I wonder and think perhaps there might be a difference if such heavy load is taken from off her shoulder
Are the 2 minutes accolades deserving of the pain
Of not sleeping nights.
The after effects of not sleeping every night deserving of such a superhero
The tired and wrinkled lines at 50 deserving of a woman who did so much

I hear the social call
I hear the joy of the child
Yet I feel the pain of a mother
The never ending responsibility

I hear she is now a therapist when the child goes off to start his own life.
A mother to a curious husband
A fighter to this brazen economy
A lover till death
