The journey

We wander through life's winding ways,
Our hearts aglow with burning blaze,
Seeking treasures to call our own,
In hopes that they will fill our homes.

But life is not a simple game,
Of winning riches, wealth, or fame,
For all we seek will fade away,
And leave us with a debt to pay.

The true wealth lies in what we learn,
And in the memories we earn,
From every step we take in life,
Through joy and pain, through peace and strife.

The mountains, valleys, and rivers too,
Are but reflections of me and you,
A treasure trove of stories told,
Of lessons learned and hearts made bold.

So let us live without regret,
And cherish all that we beget,
For life is but a fleeting chance,
To dance and sing and laugh and prance.

And when the time comes for us to go,
Leave with a peaceful glow,
Knowing that you gave your all,
And answered life's sweet, gentle call.

About this poem

I wrote this to inspire myself. I was going through a rough time, and ended up questioning my very existence. As I wrote this poem, I realised that my being is a duty to humanity. My life, not only my own. I have a part to play, in living a legacy, that my children shall forever busk under.
