My dusk to dawn

Nawaal Steyn 1982 (Cape town)

The sun has set & uncontrollably, I start to slowly cringe
knowing rest awaits for the mind and the body hinge
The eyes are heavy, strained & obscure
The bureau contributed & I had to endure

The night silence is a beauty filled with fear
As the chamber around feels closed and so near
The subconscious is fierce & wants to be heard
Making the heart palpitate & with stomach gerd

This awaken nightmare brings an agonizing feeling
As I hold onto previous comforting speech of healing
Those trusting words linger deep into my soul
As I exhale, relax, shift and try to be bold

My slumbering now becomes more predominant & real
As I utter my daily prayer & my eyes starts to seal
Yet the appearance of dawn is upon me soon
I will then go through another day until dusk again makes me a fool

Nawaal Steyn

Since my teen years I have always loved writing poetry but never ever persude it further. Now I find myself writing poetry as a coping mechanism. I hope my poems inspires and reaches those with the same feelings more…
