Suffering and Exaltation
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Depart and go out from there,
Touch not any unclean thing;
Go out in the midst to share,
About what the Lord will bring.
Purify yourself from the dark,
And bear vessels for the Lord;
Go to worship and embark,
For being in one accord.
You shall not go out in haste,
You shall not go out in flight;
For the Word has a sweet taste,
When you eat them in the light.
The Lord will go before you,
And He will be your rear guard;
If you are remaining true,
He blesses with a reward.
As His servant you be wise,
He will lift you up on high;
Be sure to open your eyes,
Sure that He will purify.
Many will be astonished,
His appearance is marred;
That sin would be abolished,
And that Satan will be charred.
Beyond human resemblance,
Beyond the children of man;
His form is made to enhance,
What God did have in His plan.
He sprinkles many nations,
Shut the mouths of the kings;
Avoiding the temptations,
Of pleasures that this earth brings.
