Of this moment
Charles Fields II 1955 (Fort Bragg, NC)
A wave sent like a kiss
A bridge Across this rift
In moments
brought To points of interest
Which combine with
What reason we exist
Of this to be a true gift to life
Lived with purpose
Beyond the drift
Of quiet summer afternoons
Beyond tides
Which come and go
Leaving behind driftwood
Of dreams
Beyond our means
And of what things
Too unkind
Miscarriage of
Truth Honor Justice
In the continuum
Of our interactions
Characterized by stories Told
to children being put to bed
Of lives led
Or is it of lies fed
Lest discovery
Of a different case file
reveal cruelty
behind the smile
Stories you may not bother to refute
To reconcile by other means,
achieved, perhaps by trickery.
Planting seeds of doubt
Misdirection, perhaps
Feeding the illusion of nobility
As if its cost
Erased In the profusion
of lives lost
In the war crazed tap dance
of confusion
While those whose lives
fulfill a little everyday
More than just enough
to get by In times of plenty
to bear fruit
Though they may sometimes
reveal more
An ugly truth
About this aperture
in time
the lens Through
Which we express
Our version
of the love
Of this Reality
Vitality Morality
As we extend explore
Defend
which ends
suit our purposes
We observe Preserve
have chosen to serve
In=with Reliance
Compliance
Defiance
In such manner we may approve,
In reflecting those versions
Of our evolving truth sets
We use
like fine china
Our mindset
lost/found
Among others
Of
Our Kind
