My Mother

Syed Arshad Hussain 1983 (Jammu and Kashmir)

Ode

I know all the ways to count on moon
On stars on the beauties that are known to none
On the delightful music of awesome tune
On the seasons of summer That have won
The words of praise and thought of all
And stand upright for the times all
But to me only a single way is not known
To do all the praise and my mother festoon

Beyond the boundaries  let I make her known
Let I lift her worth to the skies so high
And sing her songs into the worlds unknown
And raise her esteem that would never die
My mom is my life but more to me
For she keeps me always under the love’s lee
And I feel so joyous when with her I sit
My wisdom goes random and emotions up lit.

My Mother is singular in her virtue and worth
Her love is unparalleled and equivalent to none
Possessing great qualities and matchless on the earth
Treasure of love she is and sea of affection
And her calibre is great so regards too high
She is  joy of all and light of every eye
My words go scarce as I try to exalt her stead
Yet she may live long when these lines shall they read
