Celestial Love: Finding Each Other in the Universe of Your Eyes
Mawphniang Napoleon 1993 (Ri Bhoi)
In the universe of your eyes
I find my stars
But in the constellations of our love
We find each other
Beyond the burning embers of dawn's first light
And the fading candles of twilight's last breath
Our souls have found their home
In the tapestry of days and nights we've woven
As two threads become one
The heavens align as our fingers intertwine
Painting constellations across each other's skin
Your lips, my night sky
My arms, your milky way
We map the stars and moons of our inner worlds
Celestial bodies in cosmic dance
To the symphony of our heartbeats
Two souls, infinite worlds within
I lose myself in the nebulae of your eyes
Diving deep in those dark pools
Where entire galaxies are born
Your lashes, the event horizon
Each blink, a new cosmos revealed
Worlds created and destroyed
In the fleeting seconds between open and shut
I orbit the gravity of your lips
Feeling the burn as I get too close
Incinerated by the fire in your kiss
Only to be reborn like the phoenix
Rising from passion's sweet ashes
This dance between darkness and light
An eternal eclipse, forever entwined
Yin and yang, sun and moon
I ache for the softness of your night
When we lay together star-gazing
Tracing the patterns of our souls
Across each other's skin, universe to universe
The silence between us deafening
Yet speaking volumes in tender caresses
Your head on my chest, listening to the cosmos
The beating of my heart, your lullaby
We dream together, adrift on the tides
Of our shared unconscious
Riding the waves between wakefulness and sleep
Where reality blends into fantasy
And we are both dreamer and dream
When the sunlight wakes, its harsh rays intruding
Our inner worlds melt back into one
But the memory remains tattooed on our souls
A blueprint for mapping our way back
When darkness falls again.
For now, we must content ourselves
With stolen moments between the light
Brief glimpses of eternity
In the oasis of your arms
I thirst for the wellspring of your lips
Gulping down deep draughts of you
Quenching my soul's thirst
I feast on the supple fruit of your skin
Sweet ambrosia for a starving man
Your scent, a drug to my senses
Leaving me intoxicated and hungry for more
Insatiable in my craving for you
This is how I would die a thousand deaths
Drowning in your sea of sweet poison
In the universe of your eyes
I find my stars
But in the constellations of our love
We find each other
Will we lose ourselves in lights so bright?
Or will we shine eternal as binary stars?
Only time's patient march will tell
For now we burn, fused by passion's fire
Our edges blurring, where do you end
And where do I begin?
Together we are more than ourselves
Our light magnified across the darkness
A beacon in the velvet night
We have charted the unknown reaches
Of our inner space
And filled the cold vacuum with warmth
Write me into your history
Let my name be the one your heart whispers
When you gaze at the stars
Remember me in the constellations
See my face in the craters of the moon
Find me in the nebulas of your dreams
So when your eyes reflect the galaxy
I'll know you're thinking of me
In the universe of your eyes
I find my stars
But in the constellations of our love
We find each other
The tide rises and recedes
Pulling at the shores of our hearts
We sway like the sea grass
Bending but never breaking
Storms will come and go
But our lighthouse will stand steadfast
A beacon in the darkest night
You are my anchor in the roiling waters
When the waves threaten to overtake me
Your arms, my shelter from the storm
In you I find my safe harbor
A warm bed after a long journey
Home is not a place, but a person
And home is where you are
So I will gladly brave the tempest
Knowing you await on the other side
My heart always finds its way back to your shores
Where we walk hand in hand
Bare feet in the sand
The setting sun stretching our shadows
And evening welcomes us with open arms
In the universe of your eyes
I find my stars
But in the constellations of our love
We find each other.
Let's gather all the broken pieces
Of our fractured souls
And shore up the eroded cliffs
That guard our heart's lonely coves
With patience and care, we will mend
What life's harsh tides have torn asunder
And build a sanctuary where our weary spirits
Can wonder and wander without fear
Under the watchful gaze of the lighthouse
That guides us safely home
We will chart new celestial pathways
Unmapped constellations of you and me
Navigating by the starlight in our eyes
May these new heavens stretch into infinity
Beyond horizons we never dared dream
Let us catalogue these unknown realms
One glance, one kiss, one touch at a time
Gathering stars like shells on the beach
Adorning the hallways of our hearts
With the treasures we discover together
In the universe of your eyes
I find my stars
But in the constellations of our love
We find each other
The wheel of the seasons turns on
And we change like the weather
Moulting the old skins of past selves
Emerging anew, yet unchanged at the core
Through the rhythms of our circumambulations
We grow, we adapt, we persevere
The axis around which we spin
Keeping us tethered through the storms
We are the sprouting seeds in spring
Bursting with new life and hope
The blazing hearth in winter
Warming cold hands and weary souls
The harvest moon in autumn
Full and ripe with summer's bounty
The refreshing rain of summer
Quenching parched earth
And through it all, we orbit each other
Binary stars caught in an endless dance
Sometimes eclipse, sometimes align
But always together, come what may
Bound by gravity and the tides of our hearts
For as long as we both shall shine
In the universe of your eyes
I find my stars
But in the constellations of our love
We find each other
Let's gather moonbeams in jars
And collect the rays of sunlight in our pockets
Bottle up the crackling lightning
Trap the booming thunder in our cupped hands
Gather armfuls of blossoming flowers
And harvest bushels of ripened fruit
So when the skies darken
And storms descend
We'll break open our treasures
To let the light and love spill out
Scattering our collected beauty
Like stars across the inky heavens
To illuminate the darkness
And remind each other
That no night is without end
The sun always rises, the moon always wanes
The storms eventually clear
And we are left together
To gather up the scattered pieces
And start anew under clearing skies
With hands clasped, hearts full
And pockets overflowing with starlight
In the universe of your eyes
I find my stars
But in the constellations of our love
We find each other
The shell of the nautilus
Grows in perfect Fibonacci spirals
As do the seed heads of sunflowers
Always the golden ratio guides their way
The graceful sweep of galaxies
Follow celestial logarithmic curves
While churning clouds swirl
In fractal patterns across the sky
So let the truth of the natural world
Be our model and inspiration
As we build the architecture of our love
On the sturdy foundations of respect and care
Following the mathematical harmonies
Written in breath and bone, sight and soul
Honoring the beauty of our complementary differences
While celebrating the joy of our core sameness
With logic, with wonder, with gratitude and mirth
Together we will chase the divine geometric unfoldings
Of a love as resplendent as the nautilus
As steadfast as the oak, as bright and pure
As the light behind the stars
In the universe of your eyes
I find my stars
But in the constellations of our love
We find each other
