Kids at war
Senemede Abel ( abs) 1999 (Lagos)
I wonder like kids, like those tender kids murder at battle field
I wonder like, in the midst of war,
They'd try to run
But why, why are they gunned and burn?
I wonder still, just like them as tears rush slowly when should I tall,
To speak the truth, while lies befall.
I feel their hearts so gentle and wise
What a saddled to bear
I wonder, how they lost, broken and despair.
Lord! May their tender souls find solace and repair.
I burst into tears, just like they did before burning dead
Wondering why ? But these tender hearts kneels, by vier disarmed.
Still I wonder till redress stirs me to defy, and defend.
But in reality my range is hold to ascend.
So I wrote in anger, with pen so mild,
Knowing, that's never enough to avenge with courage wild.
About this poem
10m ago (22:30 GMT) ‘Children will bear the brunt’ of expanded Israeli operation: Aid group The Save the Children group said that “children are at heightened risk of loss of life, physical harm, severe emotional distress, and protracted displacement following the announced ‘expanded ground operations’ by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip. The group called for an immediate ceasefire. “This is pure horror for all children and their parents. Across the Gaza Strip, more than one million children are trapped in the middle of an active conflict zone with no safe place to go and no route to safety,” Jason Lee, Save the Children’s Country Director in the occupied Palestinian territories, said in a statement.
