Bar Chatter

Bar banter can be strange
When in a vocal exchange
Especially after a few beers
When drinking with your peers
Thinking What is this type of chatter
While the mind adjusts to the subject matter.

A dialogue will be a joint activity
In which many enjoy the festivity
It is never one-sided
And mostly never guided
Each communicating interactively
and never bombastically.

A monologue speech by other friends
The I I, me me, type often offends
Though this uninterrupted speech
May agitate some within reach
But to disrupt this one-sided ramble
Will lead to a bit of a shamble.

About this poem

Making a note of the different types of conversations, chatter, at my local. There are always a few who are loud and dominate conversations. I steer clear of them. I like to be in a group that get along harmoniously.

Dave Johnstone

I am a semi-retired software developer and web-site designer, my verse compositions have been an enjoyable change of pace (no deadlines to face). My poetry verses are my poetic expressions of my observations of nature , and their poetic content convey my humour and empathy with my surroundings, from the sea, to the earth, to the cosmos, and all life-forms therein (including those in other worlds). I actually believe that writing a software program and writing a poem take on the same mental structure, I use the same methodology for each. Get an idea or be provided a specification, plan out the task, write the task, test (rewrite) the task until satisfied with the end result. more…
