The boat that meets the land.

Ciara Mckinzie 2004 (Colorado)

When the boat arrives to the land of the fertile. The earth will spill lava over its plentiful hills to keep the ship from stealing the goods of its nature.
And after the ship leaves, as it always has and as it always will.
The land will grow more and more and its jungles will consume anything that’s un motherly and will develop a thirst for anything that gives back to it. So when your ship arrives at the bay just make sure that you are generous in nature with bandages around your bruised hands.
The land can take you in and father your harbors. It can wash you anew.
But if your foot is made of gold and hands are bulk and cold then the land will abandon your needs. So as you rip from the depths of soil and green it rips from you.

About this poem

I wrote this poem to be about strength. Maybe it’s a little bit of a threat as well.
