My Christmas Wish

Christmas time is not the same,
All I do is feel the pain.
I site and cry alone at night,
Hoping things will be alright.

I wonder if you hear my plea,
I wonder if you think of me.
Do you hear me call your name,
Do you miss me just the same.

Heaven is so far away,
But I know it's such a better place.
I am angry all the time,
Because you left and we don't know why.

But if by chance you hear this now,
I hope that you are smiling down.
I wish that I could see your face,
When I wake up on Christmas Day.

So, that's my Christmas wish this year,
To have 5 more minutes with you here,
But until that day we meet again,
I love you Mom signed your best friend.

About this poem

I wrote this poem because last year on 1/16/2022 I lost my mother to covid. Christmas time was such a huge deal to her that she would turn it into an all-day event. She was my rock who always loved my poems but since she died, I quit writing and lost my inspiration to write when I lost her, but I thought this year it was time to write one just for her.
