Glorify God
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
All things are lawful for me,
But all are not practical;
They made me too blind to see,
Things that would be immoral.
I won’t be dominated,
Which would change my attitude;
To feel humiliated,
That would be changing my mood.
Food is meant for the belly,
God can destroy both of them;
Gluttony makes like jelly,
He will sinfully condemn.
Lustful immorality,
The body is not meant for;
That sexuality,
The Lord will always deplore.
God raised the Lord from the dead,
By His might, He will raise us;
When we are righteously fed,
The moral fiber as thus.
Your body is part of Christ,
Not as part of a harlot;
When her body has enticed,
You let her be your pilot.
For two will become as one,
With the harlot that you join;
You are detached from the Son,
When you attach at the groin.
When you have joined to the Lord,
With Him, you are one spirit;
Show He is loved and adored,
Through all your thoughts and merit.
Flee from immorality,
And a lustful behavior;
Confess your iniquity,
To your Father and Savior.
If lustfully immoral,
You commit fornication;
To bring you an arousal,
And losing purification.
You had been bought with a price,
That you will glorify God;
Think of the sacrifice,
For cleansing where you are flawed.
