Enchantment

You are my villain
And I am yours
I accept that
You’re too hard to know
Too difficult to hold
A ghost that dissolves
Into ether
Soft and strong
Flighty yet persistent
Wanting and running
Pondering possibilities
And locking iron doors in your head
Just like me
Always pointing the finger
At another horizon
Failing to see
The chasm
You created
With your silence
I accept
That I am
Afraid
And indecisive
Arrogant in certainty
Humble in ignorance
Insecure
And fucking full of myself
All at once
Complicated and beautiful
Like you
Wanting to walk forward
Clinging to shadows
Trying to heal from a past I can’t see
Every time I ask AI
To interpret my poetry
She tells me I’m scattered
Well,
We are the same
In different ways
You and me
So please,
I agree
Let us be free now
For the love of God
From this scheme of pretend love
(It’s what you said, not me)
And walk away for good
So I can stop thinking of you
Remembering a person I never knew
I hate you
For existing
Inside and apart from me
I’m the devil
While you deceive
And still I love you
I’m sorry for seeing the good in you
I’m sorry for seeing all of you
I understand
Because I’ve stood naked before you too
And I want to pretend that I am
Who I want to believe I am
So tell me
What’s part two?
Karmic partners while we complete the cycle?
F*ck all of you
And your clown show
Real love doesn’t make conditions
It shows up in honesty
Says come to me
Grow with me
I love you as you are
In authenticity
It’s the devil who says
Hey honey,
Call me
When you’re more perfect
And we’ll see
I don’t want a love
That doesn’t want me for me
So why don’t we
Just let it be
You move on
And I’ll do the same
And maybe we’ll both finally be happy
