Anthony Bonasera 1957 (Chicago, IL)

1991

Many years ago when our love seemed lost
And deep dread was our only companion
When you were that stranger of dark clouds and frost
Who had returned to her deep sacred canyon.

Alone and afraid and wandering about
I prayed for your true self to wake up.
Not knowing that soon I was to find out
About the secret that no one could make up.

Buried beneath all those years of frustration
A time bomb that finally exploded.
Innocent wounded without explanation
Of the mystery so deeply encoded.

Blessed recovery of what we had started
On that overcast day in October
Have us wave farewell to the evil departed
And rest in His heavenly slumber
