The Raging Cowboy

Ronald Bunch 1982 (Grand Rapids)

A cowboy shot-out a lantern.
A fire gave.
It was a wave,
A pattern.

The hay burned and glowed.
The horses were near,
They did fear.
A bell moaned.

Precisely, a distraction was made.
The cowboy robbed the bank.
The stable was rank.
The citizens were afraid.

The sheriff was fooled.
The cowboy escaped.
The bank was raped.
The water on the fire cooled.

The fire was almost put out.
The horses fled,
Never bled.
The cowboy wasn’t route.

The cowboy wore a mask,
Hiding in the shadows.
For miles you could see the bellows.
The sheriff wasn’t up to the task.
