The Fall

Like the leaves blowing
I feel wind tossed
with no direction
the connection lost.

My tentative grip gone
ripped from the branch
my life's blood draining
my colors' blanch.

Drifting with no control
spiraling through the air
then brought to earth
without any care.

Scraping across the ground
my edges are curled
browned out and dying
leaving this world.

Now I lay here
cast-off and decomposed
left to the elements
rejected and exposed.
