My Perception
Is not my perception art itself?
Can I be this bold to say?
That my mind creates this world alone
From depths of empty space
My perception alone gives light to the world
And darkness too I suppose
But the two combined create the mind
That helps my soul to grow
Through eyes and mind I construe the infinite
Perception is creation
From a painted picture I'm able to see
A result of imagination
Through perception I'm granted a gift
That unfolds into eternity
I take each sight a step at a time
And question any certainties
Every now and then I come to find
That not all is as it seems
The facts of life will reveal themselves
As a thread that seams the dream
Then chaos seems to dictate the wind
And disorder seems to pervade
Was there ever once a guiding hand
That made even the sun and shade?
While the truth is always shining in light
Perched so high above the wall
Lies inside protect the ego
That feels separate from it all
It's too easy to lose the knowledge
And the truth is never grasped
My mind is like a handful of sand
Leaking facts that never last
And how would I try to define love?
Tell me, is it possible?
To create a bridge between two souls
And somehow make it crossable?
And what I ask, does it all even mean?
When misery always ensues?
There's never an answer, but occasionally
It jumps right out of the blue
But here I am talking too long
I'll ramble towards delusion
And when there's so many ways to see the world
There's no correct conclusion
Sometimes it's best to simply perceive
Without trying to understand
How a man can search the house for his key
While he holds it in his hand
So, far and away the truth does beckon
My light that reaches for me
I stick my hand out to greet its welcome
From the one who dreams this dream
