Dragonflies
The insects cluster casually
adorned in their honeyed capsules
that glisten in the morning sun
like sparkling golden jewels.
These creatures slumber peacefully
in the crevices of the pines,
with their ancient kauri residue
and microscopic secrets.
They sleep undisturbed just waiting,
as they’ve done for millions of years,
in their cycle of life and death -
these intriguing time-travellers.
