Restless Air

Tonight, the air remains stagnant and still. There is no difference in the way the night hangs or the moon ripples through my curtains. The same emptiness envelopes me as I wake hoping against all hope you’re beside me. In that moment, I realize nothings changed.  Waiting for an ending that’s never going to come, a lover who gave my mind and my soul refuge during my storm has been just a fleeting respite.Blessed night, pass me as a thief and leave my heart for another.

About this poem

Just another pen to paper moment when the muse moves me, I acquiesce to his whim.
