Rhetorical Toolbox

I want to write a poem
but which tool should I wield?

Maybe hyperbole, but that would take forever.

Personification? My pen adamantly refuses.

A pun for poetry isn't the write idea.

Slipping in an oxymoron is obviously sneaky.

Metaphors are bottomless pits in my work.

Alliteration usually leaves lasting lamentations.

A catastrophe using an anastrophe would be.

Then it clicks! My brain goes boom!
Onomatopoeia sounds good!

About this poem

I wrote this poem to illustrate to my ELA students the vast number of options available to them when writing, both poetry and prose. I thought it was humorous, so I played with it some more and hope it comes across as fun and not pretentious.

So sorry Dear Team but I first didn't see
The "Mark as Read" 'cause of AMD.
I LOVE this contest, all new to me
And the use of tools for the poetry.
