Wardown Park

Ferdinand Fara 1963 (Korce (Albania))

April 24
Ode

Fortunately all of them are there
Birds on the branches calling and singing
Squirrels with the tail as a question mark ,
And cautious always who is going by
Genesis swimming in their leisure time,
Or bored ashore resting on one leg,
Ducks with the bill nailing into the mud
And pigeons restlessly pecking on the ground,
Or cooing and strutting in circle around her
And a pair of swans as guest stars,
Breaking the calm water gracefully in style
And those rebellious dandelions are there,
Popping out their yellow head everywhere,
And daffodils encircling the lake in a necklace
And willows bending and going around the water,
Dancing wildly on the rhythm of the breeze
And the mature maples by the Wardown Avenue
And the high pines by the Old Bedford Road,
Arching over New Bedford Road horse chestnut trees
All of them are there waiting for you
Maestro to conduct much an orchestra,
With the passion in your hand as a baton.

You're writing comes off conversational and effortless. Were most of the others aimed to write poetry. You wrote, and it WAS poetry. Congrats, you've got my vote.

This poem really invokes the sense of the place to me, the flow feels natural but intentionally calm and smooth and delicate. The choice of words, metaphors etc. are original and again natural (as opposed to choices which while being creative may feel out of place). And the theme is just lovely. I thoroughly enjoyed.
