Chèr Amie
When I look about this tree
Clear sky above and below the blue sea
I'm reminded of my departed chèr amie
Under the sky and this same tree
My love and I held each other amorously
Sweet words and a proposal danced within my head
Hesitation, impatience no longer withheld
The sobriety of one's soul and merry hearted
Intoxicated by phrases so eloquently worded
Lovely laughter flowing through the breeze
As willow branches swayed with ease
A sudden revelation followed by a whispered release
"From this day on we shall be together as we please
to the end of forever and our love will never cease"
Tears of merriment flooded her eyes
And with one sweep of emotional glee
She did wrap her arms around me
And replied with an unforgettable ecstasy
"Darling forever is finite
but this precious moment has no limit.
for my love and yours combined
shall neither be crumbled nor ebbed
not even when all subside"
To my surprise did I discover
That the hands of fate did not favor
The emotions felt and expressed by two lovers
For time is finite and this moment no longer
When the heart is wounded and away it cowers
Our eternity that time did offer
Lasted not moments after
When the inevitable destiny tolled on her
Cutting life short for an eternal slumber
For I stood beneath the sky and this old tree
When I bided farewell to my departed and beloved chèr amie
It was a sad event that scarred my memory
Remembering her last words from now unto eternity
A joyous proposal followed by a somber eulogy
Farewell my one true love and my only chèr amie
