Drifting on slight

Breaking again at the same tired seams
Erasing my hopes and forgetting my dreams
Pushing aside all the wants and desires
Ignoring my goals as ambition expires

Accustomed to a life of steady regress
A taste for achievements I no longer possess
Comfort comes easy in my exhausted routine
Pretending improvement is better left unseen

A system of doubt where habit's preferred
And familiar behavior is the only observed
My cycle of focus is drifting on slight
This perpetual scene is the only in sight

Purpose is careful to never intrude
My rhythm stays hollow of the world I exclude
Denying myself all the reasons to try
An existence that's centered on preparing to die

My mind is kept clear of all bothersome care
The halls of my future so empty and bare
A world of surroundings that never bleed in
Drifting on slight with so little within
