Potential

Here I sit
cold, alone, yet
I am surrounded by warmth

Here i sit
sad, pained, yet
I am pressed by joy

Here i sit
crying, dying inside, yet
encircled by love

I am here
trapped inside this cave
this horror
alone

alone, yet
crowded by beings

I'm drowning,
falling,
suffocating,
screaming to escape

yet,
do i really wish to break away?

Do i reject this warmth?
this hapiness?
this love?

I run i scramble i dash
away

maybe
perhaps
could be
just
to see who follows?

I realize
and then

It began to rain
I stood
and suddenly

I too was in that circle
that light,
that warmth, yet

I turn to see another
sitting
cold, alone...

I extend my hand
to cure,
to do
what had not been done for me

together we rise
we stand
tall
proud
strong
and warm

we are no longer cold
nor sad
nor so alone
