Winning
It's not the first or second place
you achieve, when entered in a race,
But who endures, I believe
With fortitude and grace.
It's not the speed that determines
Whether you or I should win
It is with dignity, and honesty
And determination within.
The boldness, and audacity
To fall and rise again.
Who then can say, when all is done
That he first crossed the line.
Who can say that he has won
In record breaking time
Not you, not I, not none.
The race was thus not for the swift
But he who endures until the end.
