Analysis of O Blessed Day

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

I saw the four and I saw the One
Who always sits above them.
He teaches everyone who hears.
Because he really loves them!

His holy Name I can’t pronounce,
Nor would I even try.
I’m looking forward to the day.
When I will never die.

O blessed day; rebuke me Lord
And teach me discipline!
And I will always praise you!
Lord, you’ve washed away my sin.

You’ve wiped away the teardrops,
That have fallen from my eyes!
And I will not be hungry
And my throat will not be dry!

O blessed day; rebuke me Lord
And teach me discipline!
The sun won’t beat upon me,
Nor the scorching heat again!

And I will always serve you,
In your temple at your throne.
And I will love you deeply Lord,
You have called me your own!

O blessed day; rebuke me Lord
And teach me discipline!
O blessed day; we love you Lord
Come back to us again! (2x)
