Storm In Watercolor

I remember you then,
Standing boldly against
the blaze of color licking
at your form -

And you in that simple white dress -

Crowning the horizon
in an array of windblown wonder.
You open your eyes,
deep wells into the heart of fury -

Gray to match the storm -

And stare into ocean's never imagined
thundering toward you, always receding with the tide.
The mist of the storm cups your brow into proudly
held defiance, your flaxen
hair billowing trails
across the watercolor of my remembrance.

About this poem

Sometimes poetic inspiration comes when a memory clashes with an image. This poem came from the idea of a single memory captured in an instant and put on paper.
